Dog Daycare for Discerning Dogs
SPPOT is based at the Dale Road Community Centre, Furzy Park, Haverfordwest, which used to be known as The Patch - and backs onto the Racecourse so it couldn't be more perfect!
We opened on the 10th April 2017 and offer placements for between 6 and 8 dogs per day, depending on the needs of the people and dogs attending. Dogs need to be be temperament assessed to attend but this simply means they must have great people and dogs skills. Your dog doesn't need to be superbly well trained, as we offer training as part of the service, but they do need to be good natured.
This is because we are commissioned by Pembrokeshire County Council's Education and Social Services to provide accredited training placements for adults and children who experience barriers to education and work.
About the Dogcare Service
SPPOT is managed and staffed by Pembrokeshire's highest qualified dog trainer and behaviour advisor, along with a team of qualified and accredited teaching and support staff, who believe in providing services for dogs that they would choose themselves, while suiting their owners too.
Dogs who come to us for daycare are assigned their own personal K9 Keyworker who ensures they have everything they need during their time with us - walks, play, training and rest and more.
We can accept a maximum of eight compatible dogs per day, to ensure each dog remains comfortable and stress free all day. Your dog will be helping to provide our trainees with unique opportunities to work with dogs, train dogs and gain a valuable accreditation, alongside experience and all the benefits of HAI (Human Animal Interaction)
With such high staffing levels, from fully trained, accredited volunteers, you can be assured that your dog will have a wonderful day, tailored to his or her individual needs including supervised play sessions in small compatible groups, interactive play with people, puzzle games, relaxation sessions and accompanied rest time.
Every dog is taken out for comfort walks throughout the day into the garden and the Racecourse and will also be taken on one or two walks (number and length on your instruction), with our Accredited Dog Walkers, to the Racecourse of course, but also local footpaths and also to the beaches as Broadhaven and Dale are within easy reach.
To attend our day service, in line with Pembrokeshire County Council's licencing regulations, all dogs must be:

The Training Our Volunteer Dog Walkers & Daycarers Receive
Each of SPPOT'S Volunteer K9 Keyworkers and Dog Walkers have had over 100 hours of training, the majority as hands-on training with volunteer dogs.
Each learner has passed the following Agored Cymru Accredited units: These are nationally recognised training courses and include Care & Welfare of Pet Dogs and Puppies, Dog Training Skills Course & Dog Walking Enterprise Skills. All training is provided by SPPOT's Qualified Dog Trainer, Canine Behaviour Advisor & Tutor Kerri Bee, FdSc CBT, Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
The whole SPPOT Team is committed to a very strict Code of Conduct regarding the positive handling and care of all dogs in our care.
SPPOT'S innovative approach to inclusion means that we recruit and train Volunteer Dog Walkers & K9 Keyworkers who have disabilities, long term health issues and other barriers to employment. They are all volunteers and some work independently whilst others are aided by support staff.
SPPOT trains and works with people of all abilities.
